The entertainment never stops at the Shelbourne Hotel in Market Street in the CBD. Positioned just at the gateway to Cockle Bay, on the corner of Market and Sussex Streets, the Shelbourne is a favourite after-work watering hole for execs and passers-by.

The "What's on" list will make you dizzy, with constant competitions, DJ's, happy hours and social clubs. But if you're of a quieter vintage, like me, and don't have the energy to dance the night away or be part of the action, you can sit outside in the beer garden. It's nicely protected from the elements, with a great atmosphere and you can watch the comings and goings of busy Market Street.

The LinQ restaurant at the Shelbourne offers a superb 'al la carte' menu for lunch Monday to Friday and is perfect for the corporate lunch time diner. You can celebrate a workmate's birthday, an important business milestone or celebrate your hen's night. What's particularly impressive about the Shelbourne is the evening bar menu, which serves from 5 till 9 pm...with pizzas served all night.

The Shelbourne also does functions very well. You can reserve part of the lounge, or go all out and use the Altitude Bar. This great event space combines contemporary design with stunning views over Darling Harbour. There's a huge vergola roof that opens and large French windows - this is truly one of Sydney's leading rooftop bars.

With a capacity of up to 300, Altitude can host a variety of functions and social events. This is your premier function space where superb service meets event innovation.

The Shelbourne is one of those hotels that has everything and because it's central, it's one of my favourite places for an after-work catchup.
