On Tuesday, 5 April 2016, the wider public is invited to a special fundraiser for 'The School of St Jude's'.This event will be held at Elliot & Turner Travel Associates in Norwood and feature two special guest speakers, Australian Gemma Sisia, who founded The School of St Jude, a charity funded primary and secondary school located in Arusha, Tanzania (East Africa) and Dorice Livingstone Abel , one of St Jude's first graduating students.Doors open at 6.30pm and guests will be invited to enjoy a selection of nibbles. During the evening, guests will learn about The School of St Jude's which was set up in 2002 by Gemma, who believes education should be a right not a privilege.The school provides free, high-quality education to over 2000 children who show academic promise, combined with genuine and demonstrable financial need; "Fighting Poverty through Education" is the school's motto.Initially the St Jude's only had a handful of students, but today it provides boarding for more than 1,100 students and employment for over 450 Tanzanians. In 2015 the first Year 12 graduation was held and this year there is close to 2000 students over 3 campuses.Come and learn more about St Jude's at this fundraiser. You'll get to hear from Gemma and Dorice, who is St Jude's latest ambassador.This is a great opportunity to support the school.
