Let everything go this weekend and drag yourself to the Rocks, Sydney, for the end-of-the-weekend-market. As soon as you step onto the uneven cobblestones, the mixed worlds of contemporary art and old-fashioned candy stalls open up. Here, you can see jewellery, eat gelato, watch an artist spray-paint space pictures or simply try on all the amazing pieces of clothing on display. There are marketers offering rubber masks in shapes of animals, freshly made nougat and anything else you never though you wanted to eat/see/touch.

This little but famous spot opens up Friday, when The Rocks Farmers' Market offers you everything in the food range, as well as chocolates, oils etc. You can taste, smell and touch and buy a gift home for someone.

Saturday and Sunday, the Weekend Market opens up, and on display is everything from unique designer clothes to cupcake-shaped soaps. You can stroll around, and see all those crazy things you didn't know anyone made – or bought. However, it is usually forbidden to take pictures of the specific products, so always ask before.

The Rocks Marketplace also host events. For the updated calendar, visit The Rocks and choose your date. Previous events have been summer collection, vintage dinner and winter fashion showcase. However, if you are not date-specific, just check in any Friday to Sunday to stroll around and try and buy different products.

So what's different with the Rocks Market? The atmosphere is what is different from other little marketplaces. All stalls are managed by enthusiastic sellers or producers or designers. They are very animated and energetic, and you will be too when you've been here!

This little weekend event is perfect for a bunch of friends, couples or a whole family. The marketplace itself is quite small, so you have time to see everything and sit down by the opera house to eat an ice cream. The Rocks itself is a beautiful historical area (established around 1788), and here you can find a lot of nice little restaurants and cafés, as well as major shopping. If you stay long enough that the sun is setting, enjoy a jug of beer at one of the old-fashioned little pubs. Do anything here, as long as it is relaxing.
