On your lunch break, when time is of the essence, it is all about location, location, location. But where to go for a drink when you and your friends are spread out over Spring Hill and the upper CBD? Solution: The Mill Hotel!
Situated on Wickham Terrace next to Brisbane Private Hospital, The Mill seems to be one of Spring Hill's best kept secrets. It attracts moderate pub crowds, but not to the point where it is impossible to have a quiet conversation.
The Mill offers $14.95 lunch specials that include your choice of beverage (either a pot of beer or a glass of house wine). My friend opted for the chicken caesar salad which, at $19 and consisting of what she described as processed pre-cooked chicken, was questionable to say the least.
The $6 pints of beer are a winner, and are coupled with a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. It almost has a local bowls club ambience, topped with poker machines and Keno / TAB screens. If you can look past these minor details, The Mill is a nice little central location that ticks all the important boxes: cheap, clean and convenient.
