The Maid and Magpie Hotel (or 'The Maid' as it's called these days) is an old historic hotel that's been given a second chance. Walk in there now and you'd never guess it was first built in 1848 - it has contemporary style and prestige written all over it.

Sleek bars inside and out give a fantastic view of the city as you sip on your first after-work drink. Or relax in their intimate dining area, sampling one of their succulent (yet fairly pricey!) steaks. If you fancy something a little more affordable, the Maid's Bistro/Bar area offers tasty fare to suit any palate, including fresh local seafood and arguably the city's best chicken parmie.

Triple-layer bacon sandwich. You heard me.

Due to its city-side location there's always plenty to do at the Maid, including Christmas and new year's parties, special Melbourne and Adelaide Cup days, and Johnnie Walker tasting sessions. Check the website for upcoming dates and events.

They also hold private functions for groups of different sizes (up to 110 people), they can cater for private cocktail parties or corporate functions. Sign up to their A-list club for free to be informed about launches, private shows, and other interesting tidbits.

The beer garden is a great place to chill out.

So if you're in the city area and keen to unwind with a few beverages or sample some of Adelaide's finest pub fare - head on over to the Maid and Magpie Hotel. There's always something going on.

The Maid is also a fantastic Comedy Hub for the Fringe. With plentiful free parking and drinks and food available (and yes you can take your drink in to the shows) it's a huge hit with Fringe goers. Go tohttp://on.fb.me/vB0Swr for more details on the great shows!
