Anticipation has been mounting for months (you may remember Rafiki on the Sydney Opera House at the beginning of the year), but the latest season of will finally begin its run in Sydney on Thursday December 5 at the Capitol Theatre .

Since its premiere on Broadway in 1997, the musical has been seen by millions of people round the world (tens of millions, in fact) and is one of Broadway's longest-running and highest-grossing shows. The latest Australian show has been put together by director Julie Taymor, so you know it will live up to the acclaim.

The Sydney season of will run until May 11 of 2014, which sounds like you'll have plenty of time to see it, but tickets are actually selling out very quickly, even months in advance. If you want to get yours now, before you miss out, you can purchase them through Ticketmaster .
