The Island Bar
Does an escape to an island getaway only 15 minutes from Sydney's CBD sounds too good to be true, it's not you can get away from it all and enjoy a summer cocktail overlooking Sydney Harbour at
The Island Bar.
The Island Bar is located on Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour and is a hop skip and a jump from Circular Quay, Woolwich and Balmain Ferry services. Please see Sydney Ferries timetable
here.
For a unique outing the bar offers an oasis, an exceptional setting, distinctive harbour views and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The watering hole is the brainchild of award winning bartender Marco Faraone of Bacco Wine Bar in Chifley Plaza who has turned the site of a former shipyard, grain facility and convict prison into the trendy place to be seen this summer.
The Island Bar at Cockatoo Island
The outdoor venue is covered with astro turf and deckchairs, reminiscent of a European beach and inside are director's chairs surrounding tables made of wooden cable reels, vintage crockery, palm trees, some plastic fruit and the upstairs seating area is decorated with flowers in window boxes.
Special themed
events include "Let's Get Tropical" with Margarita Jugs and free trilby hats, "Aperitivo" where you can enjoy the Sunset with Bocce & Sputini, Sunday Bloody Mary Sessions with laid back summer tunes, games of bocce and croquet through January and an Australia Day barbeque.
The Island Bar is the quintessential summer spot.
