A non-purist homage to fashions past, this Saturday's first ever
Grand Vintage Ball & Vintage Attire Pageant is a great excuse to dust off your bell-bottoms and knickerbockers.
This night of music and dance is the place to be if you feel an inexplicable itch to dress in anything vintage or retro. Guests can take part in the Vintage Attire Pageant, where Best in Show prizes will be awarded in a wide range of categories. These include "Best outfit from the 20s to the 80s", "Best moustache" and "Dictator's wife".
The event will be held inside the sumptuous
Rivoli Ballroom in south-east London, where fans of yesteryear's finest fashions can throw shapes to jive, rock 'n' roll, glam rock, New Romantic, disco, Motown, punk and Britpop. Cabaret duo
Bourgeois and Maurice will be the night's comperes, while DJs Julian Smith and the She Set will be working the decks.
Tickets can be bought on the door for an as-yet undisclosed price. The cheapest option is to pay £14.99, plus a £1.50 booking fee, at
TicketWeb.
Indulge your love of threads and fads, but remember: this is not a silly fancy dress event and afro wigs will not be permitted.
