One of my favourite things to do in Canmore is eat. This mountain town has an excellent selection of quality restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines. For those, like myself, who love Cajun/Creole cuisine, a visit to The French Quarter Cafe is a must.



Chef and owner Michael Raso is a regular visitor to New Orleans. As a result, his Louisiana inspired cuisine is always fresh and tasty. He also offers cooking classes. The restaurant is located at 100 -1005 Cougar Creek Drive.

The menu prices are reasonable and reflect the quality ingredients used in the dishes. Food is prepared fresh and diners can enjoy a leisurely dining experience. A good wine list provides suitable pairings to complement the spice in the dishes. Reservations are recommended. The Louisiana Shrimp Creole is a favourite dish of mine with perfectly cooked Gulf and baby shrimp served in a nicely spiced Creole sauce and served with rice.
