is the name of a new food truck hub at Adelaide showgrounds. Every weekend - Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday you can find a changing selection of food trucks bringing you their gourmet range of street foods. With free entry and its convenient location a whisker south of Adelaide, the Food Truck Movement is well located to feed foodie fans from all around Adelaide.

This new mobile food hub is not in competition to the flourishing Fork on the Road fleet, as that event usually happens monthly at best. What the Food Truck Movement does offer is a reliable, easy to find way to relax on a weekend, with a choice of the best street food in Adelaide.



Of course, food and wine is a popular combination, so this new home for food vendors has a licensed bar. A strong preference is shown for South Australian food and wine, but obviously products like Coca Cola will now have to be sourced from interstate. Hopefully over time local people will develop a preference for South Australian made beverages too, like the Bickford's Australia range made in Salisbury. Let's try to keep as many jobs as we can in SA!

I visited the Food Truck Movement at Adelaide showgrounds around lunchtime on its first Saturday open. There was parking available on Rose Terrace, so I headed right over to Goyder Plaza, just outside Goyder Pavilion. Despite only word of mouth advertising there was a decent number of families enjoying lunch. There's plenty of shade and undercover seating - just the place to spend a lazy afternoon.



Free live entertainment from a DJ kept the crowd happy without the volume being too intrusive. On the Friday evening, an acoustic guitar player complemented the mood, and a changing selection of musicians will be showcased each week. There's plenty of space for children to run around and enjoy themselves once they have finished their meal.

is a permanent local food hub for the area, but will close during the Royal Show each year. Every week there is a different selection of Adelaide's finest food trucks selling street food and yummy desserts to round your meal off with. Of course, you can find great coffee too, with Espresso at Events being the regular supplier.



The food trucks at Adelaide showgrounds this week included Phat Buddha Rolls with the flavours of Asian food, Beyond India and their delicious spicy curries, Gourmet Grillerz offering tasty American style sliders and a range of hot dogs (including vegetarian options), and an Italian food truck new to me - the Gnocchi Kitchen selling handmade gnocchi and sauces.

The most popular food truck was clearly fun for kids - Strawberries Galore and their seductive seasonal strawberry desserts were a big hit.

Next week expect Wienerbago Gourmet German Food , All Fired Up Wood Oven Pizza , and authentic flavours from Zorba's Greek food and Toli's Vietnamese.



Getting to the Food Truck Movement is easy wherever you live. There are plenty of major bus routes along Goodwood Road, the Adelaide Showgrounds railway station is a short distance away, or you can drive. While there is limited free parking on Rose terrace, there's plenty of onsite parking available. Your first 30 minutes are free, and at the moment you pay only $3 for up to four hours park.

With Adelaide's love affair for food trucks, it seems that a fixed location works well. The Low and Slow American BBQ restaurant has become a popular fixture at Port Adelaide, while further down Goodwood Road the Sneaky Pickle restaurant has gone down well with locals.

I'm sure that the Food Truck Movement will take off too - it's awesome to have an ever changing range of street food available so conveniently.
