The Esplanade Market at St. Kilda is another reason to head towards the beach.
The market is run every Sunday from 10am to 5pm and is spread out along the Upper Esplanade, between Fitzroy and Cavall Street. To get there, take the
number 96 or
16 tram from Flinders Street Station and get off when you see the white canvas stalls.
Originally opening as a market for artisans to sell their work, the market now attracts over 200 local artists and craftspeople. Most stalls feature unique and handmade items including leather goods, paintings, pottery and bags. There is also some great jewelry on sale, including creative bracelets made from recycled cutlery and rings featuring scrabble tiles.
The market is also great for souvenirs, with many stalls selling Australian-themed items such as t-shirts and key rings. All items are made by the stall holders themselves which makes it a great opportunity to chat to them about their work. Previous stall holders include director
Adam Elliot who used to sell t-shirts that he designed and painted himself.

Acland Street is a great place to have lunch with its wide choice of burger joints and cafes. Be sure to stop in at one of the famous cake shops with their inviting and colourful window displays. Explore the shops or end the day with a walk along the beach to complete your Sunday.
