A gorgeous new dress had been forlornly looking at me each time I opened my wardrobe. I'm not one to relish in disappointing others, even inanimate objects, so I put it and some lipstick on and off I went to the Emporium Hotel Cocktail Bar.
The bar is both sophisticated and fun, a combination hard to achieve. Eclectic decorations give the bar that 'wow' factor and cleverly situated furniture creates a feeling of privacy. The staff were very friendly and the service was impeccable. Upbeat music pumped out of the speakers and despite the sophisticated feel of the place, people weren't afraid of having a dance. One of my pet hates is loud music in a bar setting which makes conversation difficult. However, the music at the Cocktail Bar was at a comfortable volume.
After talking with one of the bar staff about the various cocktails, I started off with a Ginger Bread Man. This is a delectable dessert cocktail made with a delicious blend of Mozart White Chocolate Liquer, Absolut Vodka and gingerbread syrup, with a crumble topping. I'm not a big cocktail drinker but even I could tell that this was something special. My friend's cocktail, called The Cherub's Cup, was equally as mouth-watering. We tried some of the tasty tapas that were on offer, the Danish goats cheese filled artichokes with roasted pumpkin aioli and baby capers were my favourite. The cocktails start at $17 and the tapas, $9.
If you're looking for a cool location for drinks with friends, or trying to impress a first date, I recommend the Emporium Hotel Cocktail Bar. Although you might leave with your wallet feeling a little lighter, it's worth it for the service and the experience. Girls, we all have that one dress we've been waiting to wear but haven't had the right place to wear it, well, now you do.
