There are some nights when all you want is a stack of pancakes and the craving is so strong that you can't really wait until breakfast. And there are some mornings when toast isn't going to be enough to break your fast and you need something more substantial – like a burger or a steak. For those days you can rely on
the Eagle, because its
All Day menu, does what its name suggests and is available all day – and well into the night.
It's good to know on a night out that you can fill up at your evenings half way point on a rack or ribs, a hot dog with all the trimmings - or only some of them, a proper steak or club sandwich, a burger from a lengthy list of options, a salad, or a plate of Eggs' Benedict even.
But this isn't just a place to refuel, the Eagle is a bar in its own right, with quite an extensive and impressive list of
cocktail concoctions that starts at a classic mint julep in silver cup, and ends with the 'Royal Balloon': their ultimate XXL version of the classic mojito: Santa Teresa Claro, fresh mint, sugar, lime & a whole bottle of champagne. Via some of the best alco-shakes in town (try the $10 shake, vanilla and bourbon for a deceptive £7.25.). They also keep drinkers with less frou frou tastes happy – there are three beers on draft and ten bottled varieties.
To give you a better idea about the range of cocktails, the drinks menu is about six times the size of the food menu.
So you can start and finish your night here, as well as take a break from it – or your day for that matter. The look of the place is probably best described as American diner with a modern twist. They have irregular shaped booths on two levels, bench seats at the front and a bar section for people just in to enjoy a drink and hear the DJ's work. But more importantly they get the atmosphere right and it feels like people around you are having a good time – which always breeds more good times.
