Adelaide is learning to be more creative with disused buildings that are scattered around the city and suburbs.

Renew Adelaide has made steady progress in reviving parts of historic Port Adelaide, but Splash Adelaide takes the credit for finding a creative new use for our disused bus depot on Franklin Street.

As The Fringe Festival has grown, so have the number of venues which act as hubs - places where you can be entertained and enjoy fine food and drink.

This year there are many, the Garden of Unearthly Delights , , Little Miss Mexico , and Howl the Moon at Linde Reserve are just some of the most popular.

Even before officially opened, it was a huge hit hosting the first Fork on the Road that provided service for both lunch and dinner.

Around 5,000 people circumnavigated massed containers like beetles around toy building blocks, creating a very different atmosphere from previous events held in leafy city parks.

I do wonder whether 's PR person was hyperventilating though, when they wrote somewhat breathlessly:

is a highly temporal and evolving venue with themes that will change throughout the duration of the Fringe, promoting surprise and intrigue. The spontaneous, industrial aesthetic of the space will be created with the use lightweight and cost-effective construction materials, layered over a staple of shipping containers and abandoned buildings

However one describes it, is bound to be a very busy location during the Adelaide Fringe, and is ideally located just down the road from the Adelaide Central Market.

There is already a busy schedule of some of the cream of Adelaide events at , including concerts, art exhibitions, and films.

The Take Heart Queensland concert is a particularly important fundraising event at supporting Queensland flood victims, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross. It's on Tuesday February 19 from 4pm - 10pm.

Admission is by a paltry gold coin donation, and around 5,000 people have already signed up to attend. You can expect plenty of live entertainment, a fleet of food trucks, licensed bar, raffles and auctions.

Sign up for the event on Facebook to get the latest goss, and have a thumping good time while supporting our Queensland cousins.

A couple of other activities at the Depot are particularly noteworthy.

The Kid's Fringe runs from February 25 to March 8, offering the chance to be amused and entertained by some quite unusual activities. Play the day away in a fun and safe environment for $15 per child, parents and carers are free.

To close the Fringe Festival @ in style, on Saturday March 16 check out Pete Murray, The Whitlams, and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in concert.

This group of artists is bound to be enormously popular, so get your tickets early.

Whatever floats your boat, is bound to have something to make your feet tap and your tummy rumble. Like it on Facebook , and check it out soon before the crowds hit!
