Every day I commute through St Pancras International Station but it wasn't until this week that I ventured beyond my regular path to the upper concourse, ambling down past the St Pancras Grand and ending up at the
Betjeman Arms.
Sir John Betjeman was an English poet, writer and broadcaster who died in 1984 at the age of 77. He started his career as a journalist and ended up as Poet Laureate and a well-loved figure on British television.
He was also a passionate defender of Victorian architecture which makes this tribute to him inside one of its best examples, the grandly refurbished St Pancras International Station, perfect.

The Betjeman Arms is at the 'quiet' end of the Station's Upper Concourse and can also be accessed from Euston Road. The main bar is surrounded by a series of drinking 'spots' both inside and out so there's ambience and cosy corners in abundance. A good range of wines and beers helps to ease yourself away from the trials of the working day and the food on offer was a perfect pick me up before the trip home, in terms of both quality and quantity.
So if you are looking for a fab little corner in the midst of the international hustle and bustle, take a wander down the concourse, past the statue of the great man himself, to the Betjeman Arms. You'll not regret it.
