Music, dance, theatre, opera, comedy and children's entertainment can all be found under one roof at this Gold Coast venue.
The
Arts Centre Gold Coast (
135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise) is a cultural hub that houses a cinema, theatre and art gallery. The centre also boasts smaller performances spaces, a cafe and a chapel.
The Arts Theatre plays host to local and international performances throughout the year. In 2011, that includes cabaret, children's theatre and shows by international comedians. The Arts Cinema offers a program of new release, art house and foreign films for cinema lovers. There are two theatres available. Tickets are $13.50 for adults, $10.50 for concession holders and $8.50 for seniors and children.
The Gold Coast City Gallery is a large space that showcases a variety of works. The permanent collection consists of more than 2500 pieces, with a focus on Australian art, while a rotation of temporary exhibits keeps things fresh. The Gallery is open Monday to Friday from 10.00am until 5.00pm and weekends and public holidays from 11.00am until 5.00pm.
The Basement is a smaller space that hosts live entertainment and music. Meals and drinks are also available. Alternately, enjoy a meal, coffee or glass of wine at the Arts Cafe, which is open seven days a week (see
website for opening hours).
