Located in the beautiful Bayside town of Sandgate, Tea & Bisque-It is a lovely destination for a creative day trip. The pretty shop/cafe/studio is set up with tables and chairs and blank ceramic pieces (bisques) fill the shelves. Simply choose your item (from plates to picture frames) and unleash your inner artist. You can paint your own design or browse through a range of books for inspiration and can trace or sketch your design first in pencil. Once finished, the item is glazed and fired and is ready to collect a few days later. They are also willing to post pieces out for those who cannot come back to collect.

I enjoyed a lovely morning there recently with my two children. We printed my 4 week old baby's footprint onto a mug and plate while my 2.5 year old had fun decorating an egg cup. These would make lovely Grandparents or Mother's Day gifts. The ladies running the shop were very friendly and more than happy to help me with the footprints. With organic coffee, 15 varieties of tea and gourmet biscuits on the menu and a very relaxed atmosphere, I could happily have stayed all morning and painted my own item. It would make a great venue for a child's birthday party or a fun hen party activity. They offer party packages and can even arrange a BYO evening for groups of six or more painters.

Opening hours: Tues - Fri 10.00 - 17.00, Sat 10.00 - 14.00
Cost: approx $20 per item
Parking: In car park next to arcade
