Taste Food Tours

Calling all foodies, gourmands and wannabe master chefs; this Sydney suburb is a hotspot for multicultural cuisine, with hundreds of restaurants, markets and grocers offering everything from Asian to African. Take a food tour to benefit from a local's knowledge.

Taste Food Tours provide visitors with guided walking tours of Bankstown. Each tour is led by a local community guide, who will share the best places to shop and to eat, plus the culinary history and rituals of their culture. Each store will provide a range of specialities to taste and goodies to place in your sample bag – no one goes home empty handed! Depending on the business and the tour, business owners may also share their secret recipes with you or give you an opportunity to get your hands dirty with a hands on cooking demonstration.

Sample Mediterranean delicacies on the European Explorer; indulge your sweet tooth with a Sugar and Spice tour; Out of Africa includes a drumming workshop as well as food; and Around the World on a Plate is the natural choice for those who just can't make up their mind.

Or, if you prefer eating to cooking, why not try a progressive dinner experience? Each party is themed to a certain cuisine and offers an average of four courses at four different restaurants.

Taste is a community organisation that offers activities designed to showcase the food and culture of Bankstown. As well as walking tours, they offer a recipe exchange and are soon to offer cooking classes in different cuisines.

Taste Food Tours provide their customers with more information about different cultural cuisines, as well as the best place to source ingredients. Tours and dinners take place on Fridays and Saturdays.

I'm not sure how accessible the places are, but they are open to the public. However, with the tour, you get the extras - meals, recipes, etc.

Sounds like a really interesting concept. Things like this usually happen during particular festivals, but to have this going on all the time seems like a really fun thing to do.

I can't believe that they have so many different options all in the one area. I'd love to get along there one time and give it a go. Always looking for good food experiences.

The tours are a great way to explore new cuisines from different cultures. I had my 'ah ha' moment when I had oysters on one of the Taste Tours and was pleasantly surprised! A great way to spend a day out with friends.
