It has been six years since Take 2 Markets launched in Melbourne. This pre-loved market has blossomed into a thriving recycled fashion, second-hand and vintage fashion event, with regular markets held in Victoria throughout the year.


Take 2 Markets celebrates six years in the recycled fashion business, with a pre-loved, new and nearly new fashion market held at Northcote Town Hall on Sunday 21st July from 10am - 3pm.

In an exclusive interview with the founder of Take 2 Markets, I ask Rina Chia about the history and successes behind her popular Melbourne fashion markets:


What have been the biggest changes you have seen with Take 2 Markets over the last six years?

We have gone from thre markets at one venue to multiple markets across several venues in Melbourne, Geelong and Bendigo.


What would you say are your most satisfying achievements to date with Take 2 Markets?

Seeing women embracing the markets and making secondhand shopping part of their lifestyle. What started as a hobby has become a popular and successful business and I'm so lucky to have met so many wonderful people along the way, a lot of whom are now friends. I've collaborated with other businesses (Circa Vintage, Barkly Square), making Take 2 Markets connected to the fashion community in a way that it wasn't at the beginning, when it was seen as just another "market".


Can you tell us about the fashion items sold at Take 2 Markets?

%%The quality of pre-loved goods at the market just keeps getting better, and we've built a strong customer and social media following. Women are dressing so much better and being more inventive and creative with fashion! It's been lovely to see Take 2 become a true fashion event and one that people dress up for.

We've also managed to pick up a couple of awards along the way which has been great.%%

Can you tell us about any recent awards you've picked up?

Take 2 Markets has just been chosen as one of ten Victorian businesses to feature in "Small Business Big Future", an exhibition which is part of Victoria's Small Business Festival in August. The exhibition kicks off at Fed Square (more details coming soon).

If you're looking to update your wardrobe with gently loved quality clothing pieces, do pop down to Northcote Town Hall on the 21st July and grab yourself a sustainable fashion bargain.

It's been quite a journey for Take 2 Markets and the best is yet to come.
