Roll up, roll up, because from the 1st to the 14th of April, the
Royal Easter Show will be delighting around 900,000 guests at the
Sydney Showground.
The
history of this famous event dates all the way back to 1823, when the first edition was held at Parramatta. And it has been running annually ever since 1869, notwithstanding the occasional outbreak of Spanish flu (1919) and world war (1942-6).
As always, the
program will be packed with fun things for the whole family. The
entertainment will feature big-ticket items like the action-packed
Main Arena and the nightly
Laser & Fireworks Finale, as well as less obvious highlights such as the
Psycho Sideshow and
Noddy, the world's tallest horse.
No Easter Show would be complete without an assortment of enticing
animals and competitions. The former will include the
Farmyard Nursery and
Alpaca Fashion Parades, while the latter will include the
Flower & Garden Show and the
Domestic Animals showcase.
Typically, there will also be numerous
exhibits to enjoy, such as the regional produce of
District Exhibits, the old school cool of
Heritage Lane, the technological wizardry of
The Zone and the creative brilliance of the
Arts Pavilion.
For the kids – and big kids – there will be more
rides and
showbags than ever.
If you feel like grabbing something to eat, there will be a plethora of
food options. But be warned: none of them will come cheap.
The same goes for
tickets. ShowLink tickets, which include public transport and admission, cost $33 for adults, $26 for concession, $22 for the disabled (plus one carer admitted free), $22 for 4-15 year olds and nothing for under-3s. Rides cost extra.
