The Sydney Mardi Gras Festival attracts more than 100,000 visitors nationally and worldwide and this year, the Festival will be jam-packed with a bumper of a program featuring over eighty free and ticketed events across various Sydney locations.



There will be no shortage of entertainment, comedy, exhibitions, music, theatre, parties and parades.

The Festival will span over two weeks kicking off on the 17th February with the Rainbow Flag Raising Ceremony at Town Hall, George St, Sydney. The Rainbow Flag will be raised to mark the city of Sydney's support for the LGBTQI community. It will commence at 5:30pm. The red in the flag will symbolise life, while orange signifies healing, yellow is for sunlight, green represents nature, blue for harmony and violet signifying spirit.



The Mardi Gras Fair Day will feature the perfect family-friendly gold coin donation event which attracts over 80,000 people and will be a heap of fun in the sun with live entertainment, activities, food stalls, Fashions of The Fair competition, parade and much more. The event will be held at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, Federation Rd, Newtown on 19th February from 10am-7pm.



There will be plenty of exhibitions throughout the Festival with Koori Gras Exhibition being one of the exhibits on display which will feature a timeline history providing a platform of shared stories and history for First Peoples gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, sister girl, brother boy, intersex and queer community across the nation.



The Queer Thinking exhibition will showcase a series of new perspectives of identity and equality and will feature at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery Rd, Sydney on 25th February between 1pm-3pm.

Talks, guest speakers and discussions will also take place throughout the Festival with many inspirational stories and talks- see website for all talk and discussion events.



Queer Art After Hours is a free event of celebration which will feature bar and pop-up performances, live music and much more throughout the Art Gallery of New South Wales. The event will take place on 1st March between 5pm-10pm.



Be captivated with the most colourful and exciting event at the Festival: The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade which will showcase a massive show of 12,000 fabulous people as they unite in a massive glittering explosion of pride. Oxford & Flinders Streets, Sydney will be lined up with equality, pride and dazzling sparkles of self-expression. The Parade will take place on 4th March from 7pm-10pm.

Parties will fill the Festival along with theatre, film, comedy performances, shows, acts and much more. Be sure to scribble in the dates and have a "queertastic" time!
