Foodies rejoice! October, previously known in Sydney as Good Food Month has been transformed this year into the
Sydney International Food Festival. This sumptuous festival featuring a wide variety of mouth-watering events around town kicks off on October 3rd at the
Sydney Growers Market at Pyrmont.
The
World Chef Showcase Weekend is being held on October 9th – 11th at the
Star City Ballroom also in Pyrmont. Over 30 internationally famous chefs will be presenting talks, demonstrations and sharing recipes and cooking tips for keen cooks. Some of the chefs include Kylie Kwong, David Thompson, Alexandre Bourdas and Praveen Anand. To participate you can book online through Ticketmaster via the Food Festival website or call them on 136 100.
Free family entertainment and fine oriental style food will be available at the
Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park on weeknights between October 12th – 16th and October 19th – 23rd.
The Sydney Food Fairness Alliance Summit is also being held in conjunction with the festival on October 22nd and 23rd at the Teachers Federation, Surry Hills. If there is anything you would like to find out about slow food, ethical eating and sustainability, this is the place to meet other likeminded people.
Outstanding finalist photos and the overall winner from
Shoot the Chef, a photographic competition now in its 10th year will be on display at Star City for the whole month.
Heaps of participating restaurants and cafes in the city will also be involved offering special deals on meals including
Hats Off Dinners, Let’s Do Lunch, Let’s Do Brunch and the Sunday Family Lunch. A Cocktail of the Month will be available at selected bars around town. I’m sure there will be something this month to please just about everyone.
