Part of the fun of spending a day at the
Sydney International Boat Show is casually wandering around the marinas at Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour investigating the magnificent water craft you could buy if you had a million dollars. However this annual Sydney nautical show is not just about big bucks. The organizers of this extravagant three day event have endeavored to provide something for everyone.
There will be over 300 exhibitors in the convention and exhibition halls and loads of entertainment. Lots of fun with daily fashion parades, a Fishing Clinic, a
Boat Building Competition and a Photography Exhibition. The adventurous might like to meet
Justin Jones and James Castrission. These two young intrepid kayakers who crossed the Tasman in 2008 are holding a book and DVD launch in conjunction with the show.
History buffs might like to explore the old sailing vessel
Spirit of Mystery, or the historic
Lady Hopetoun, the gentleman’s schooner
Boomerang or the old coal-fired tug
‘Waratah’. Ticket holders can take a one hour tour of Sydney Harbour on board a Matilda Rocket, departing regularly from Cockle Bay.
The tickets are reasonably priced and there is a discount for buying them online and check the
website for the concessions available for pensioners and seniors.
