Wings and Oars, about a former pilot who looks back over his life: the earth, the sky, the women - everything that took place on the journey from an airstrip to an abandoned boathouse.
Festival delights include a Dbl Session of Six of the Best and a Thorn in the Mind Doco, the ever popular Aussie Program ANIMAAATE! and the weird and wonderful Late Night Bizarre.
The special screening of Indigenous animation from Canada, the US and Australia will be followed by a forum with Special Guests from the all over Australia and abroad.
The program is a reflection of a growing movement worldwide where animation is providing a fresh voice for contemporary indigenous imaginings. Animation is being utilized in indigenous communities to bridge the generation gap, pass on languages, some of which are at the point of extinction, and as a way for indigenous voices to be heard in popular culture.
The Kids' animation weekend has activities for the kids held at the Powerhouse Museum. For kids aged 8 - 12 years they can learn the basics of stop motion animation and create a short animated film held in the Powerhouse Museum's digital learning space.
