Ever wanted to feel the exhilaration of being 14, 15, even 16 metres up a wall?
Ever wanted to overcome a psychological fear of heights?
St Peters Indoor Rock Climbing Gym is the place for you. Simply get yourself to Unit 4C/1-7 Unwins Bridge Road St Peters NSW 2044 to experience all that this gym has to offer.
Last night, for the first time, I tried indoor rock climbing and I have to say it was an adrenalin-charged experience.
Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym, St Peters is the biggest indoor rock climbing centre in Australia and offers comparatively cheap entry fees; only $26 for an adult and that includes climbing shoes and a harness. For your first visit you'll pay $30, because that will include your first belay instructor who will teach you how to climb and how to operate the ropes from the ground.
If you want to go more frequently, there are multi-visit passes and membership options. It's also a lot cheaper if you are a full time student, large group or family.
For example, in a large group of 18, I only had to pay $15.
There are 250 different climbing routes with differing difficulties from easy up to extremely difficult. There will be numbers on each route that will let you know what to expect from the wall and from the different colours.
St. Peters also offers a children's room with easier climbs and there are even a few good starting points for beginners, like me.
Bookings are only required for a group of 10 or more.
It's also important to note that you will need a partner for rock climbing, however, St. Peters do have a "meet a partner night" on Tuesdays.
This is a great way to have some fun and get fit so give it a try.
