I was fortunate enough to be invited to join one of their
Christmas Party Cruises and was treated to over three hours of cruising, a delicious buffet, DJ, and fully stocked bar. It was a perfect day on the harbour and every man and his boat seemed to be out sailing, making very colourful "traffic".
I was keen to explore what this cruise had to offer and found it very clean and uncluttered with crisp decor and attentive service. On the day I attended there were several children on board including a newborn, a couple of under 10's and even an unborn! However, when booking into one of the party cruises, it's best to check if it is a child-friendly cruise.
The
on board chef delivered an outstanding buffet with a wide selection of desserts, while the DJ played tunes that spanned from the 80's to current day. Should you wish to bust a few moves on the dance floor, there is ample room. Licensed for 216 people, the Harbour Spirit can accommodate up to 120 for a sit-down dinner & up to 200 for a cocktail party. It is also available for
private functions for 60 - 200 people.
The cold section of the buffet consisted of deliciously fresh prawns, an antipasto platter and five beautifully presented fresh and colourful salads, including Seafood and Caesar. I thought it was a great idea to direct traffic to the buffet table by table, avoiding a human traffic jam as well as your views being blocked by a sea of bodies.
The hot selection had something for everyone, from chicken, fish, beef, pasta and a potato bake. Desserts were plentiful and included fresh fruit and a cheese platter. Coffee and tea were also available. The food was good, fresh and tasty, given the thumbs up by myself and my fellow cruisers.
Apart from the indoor section, there were two outdoor deck areas with tables and chairs, one at the front - which was quite breezy - and a more sheltered upstairs deck at the back, which was a great place to take in the sights. Apart from the obvious Sydney Harbour attractions, we sailed down past the Gladesville Bridge and even moored for a while at Taronga Zoo, which seemed a really popular stop with other boats and gave a great atmosphere.
