In addition to hosting sporting events, the Sydney Olympic Park is also a family venue for the school holidays. This year Kids in the Park program features 54 activities of which 11 are FREE. Head over to the Art Galllery of NSW for ARTEXPRESS 2015 before it closes in April. This annual exhibition is a joint initiative of the NSW Department of Education and Communities and the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW in association with the Gallery. This year's exhibition showcases 37 students who have produced outstanding works during the 2014 NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) Visual Arts examination. The range of medium include painting, drawing, graphic design, photomedia, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, time-based forms and sculpture. [SECTION]Remembering Gallipoli - till 30 April[/SECTION]



Head over the Customs House Library for a FREE exhibition that explores the unique relationship between the Anzac and Turkish soldiers who fought in 1915 Gallipoli campaign during World War I. Featuring photographs by Mine Konakci, this project documents the direct descendants of the Anzac and Turkish soldiers from Australia , New Zealand and Turkey . Eack work couples the descendant with a projected image of his or her ancestor in an attempt to highlight the connection and create a dialogue. [SECTION]Cockatoo Island Campfire Sessions - 9 to 12 Apr[/SECTION]



Head over to Sydney Harbour's largest and most impressive island for music therapy this month. Only minutes by ferry from Circular Quay, Cockatoo Island will be hosting some of Sydney's best home-grown music. Programmed by underground music venue 505, you can relax around the fire pit and enjoy FREE interactive sessions with artists including Damien Wright, Abuka Trio, Rosie Henshaw, Alex Gibson, Johnny Nicol and many more.

The NSW Department of Education and Communities has partnered with the local councils across the state to celebrate National Youth Week 2015. As part of youth Week, the City of Sydney is hosting a series of FREE activities in various venues for young people age 12 to 25.

Highlights include:

  • Youth Symposium at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 10 Apr, 6pm to 9pm.

  • 17th Fernside Annual Skate Competition at Waterloo Skate Park, 10 Apr, 2pm to 7.30pm.

  • Live Hip Hop event in celebration of Youth Week at GOODGOD Small Bar, 11 Apr, 12pm to 4.30pm

    The Rocks Discovery Museum is best known for telling the story of The Rocks from pre-European to the present day. In support of the ANZAC Centenary, the Museum is hosting a unique portrait exhibition by Turkish-Australian artist Mertim Gokalp. You and your family can enjoy FREE entry and potraits of 10 ANZAC and 10 Turkish Gallipoli war descendants. Each is also accompanied by personal stories and memories. The movie will run from 1pm to 2.30pm on 13 April and 10am to 11.30am on 17 April at the Metcalfe Auditorium. This is part of the Library's school holiday program for children aged 3 to 14 years.
