On the 10th of April, the
Surry Hills Festival will be bringing its annual dose of intimate community fun to trendy
Surry Hills.
The festival acts as a much-needed fundraiser for the
Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre. While its regular home is Prince Alfred Park, renovations have forced a temporary shift to
Shannon Reserve (Devonshire Street) and
Ward Park (Crown Street), which are about 500 metres apart from one another. It should also be noted that unlike in the past, Crown Street will not be closed.
The two venues will be hosting 19 different
performers, including
A Casual End Mile,
Earthbeats and
The Ray Mann Three. There will also be
stalls and rides, as well as an array of cuisines to feast on. However, alcohol will not be on sale, nor will it be allowed in; instead, thirsty patrons will have to visit one of the area's numerous pubs.
As always, there will be many people looking forward to the famous
Dog Show Off. Held in Ward Park between 9.30-10.45am, it will feature a number of fun challenges, like the Doggie Dash, Pick Up Poo Race and Agility Challenge.
In conjunction with the festival, there will be
more live music at
The White Horse, a range of
free kids' activities at the
Surry Hills Library & Community Centre and a self-guided
Art Gallery Walking Tour. Plus, a
Surry Hills Festival After Party will be raging at the
Norfolk Hotel.
