Busy is a great word, in fact music to any foodie's ears in Surry Hills. There have been a few, albeit wonderful new cafes opening up in Surry Hills as of late. Some of them are small, elegant and rather cosy. However, whether you are a Surry Hills local, or you aren't, it is still good to know which cafes are busier than others. Especially on weekends. More so in such peak times, for locals and non-locals to this trendy area alike, disappointment can reign when you've just missed out on a suitable table. It is always that couple with or without their dog that beat you to it. Especially on Crown Street. Needless to say, there are some other cafes in this area, that somehow struggle to be flat chat in comparison.

Kawa is quite busy and popular. The photos could mislead, as the writer was quite lucky coming here on a recent rainy morning for some breakfast. Kawa, although small and cosy can still get quite busy during the week, while the majority of Sydney siders are at work. One customer comes in for their coffee , and really quickly so does another. No wonder why Kawa is busy. Even on a wet, Thursday morning, it is like a lucky dip in finding a good table, if a table at all, and still. Come on weekends, either on a Saturday or a Sunday morning, even before 10am, and sometimes even before 9am, it is difficult to find a table at all. Especially in great weather. This is where the early bird (definitely) catches the worm. Hey, with gluten free and vegan friendly foods on the menu, as well as tasty organic egg and mushroom sandwiches on five grain or on Turkish bread, it all makes sense. Kawa is busy. Always busy. Great service also helps.

Again, there are other worthy cafes nearby that just can't seem to attract those breakfast loving Sydney siders, and Surry Hills locals in particular. It can also be the small things that make a profound difference, and in response to this question, Rustic Pearl further down in the heart of Crown Street is another busy little bee. A busy cafe both during the week, and packed to the rafters in comparison on weekends. Stylishly tiled tables, beautiful decor, great service and really delicious feeds does not disappoint. Neither do their differences that bring out that wow factor, with orange juice servings looking like a beach holiday cocktail treat, to the right use of herbs, among a small, beautiful lime serving as a water bottle top.

What do you think? Are there any other busy cafes in Surry Hills, and how busy do they really get? Looking forward to your comments.
