I took my pooch and brood down to check out the Super Furry Festival at Surry Hills on the weekend.

This wonderful festival was jointly founded by Jess Zeltner and Courtney Meyer, a couple of hard working cat loving girls who want to do big things. They want to help animals, create change in the industry and have fun doing it which is why the festival was conceived. This year the focus was on pet pampering and all proceeds raised go to help the hardworking folk and organisations that save, rehome and protect animals.

Having a rescue dog myself, it is a cause that I believe in and strongly support. Our family rescued a Kelpie cross Terrier scruff called Think from Pet Rescue Pet Rescue two years ago. It has been the best decision we ever made. She is a loyal, sweet girl who has helped me get through many sleepless nights being a new mum and is always by my side. She is a part of our family and we couldn't imagine a life without her.

If you are looking for a fun family day out which includes the fur baby, this festival has it all. Tink loved all the pet treats such as Kookie Box and Pet Parcels . I loved all the accessories such as Ratbags and Rascals , outfits, the doggie brew from BeerDogs Brewhouse and all the products for pampered pooches.

I loved the human stalls by Twenty3 selling Turkish bath towels and the Scentimental candles stall. The gelato and homemade lemonade were refreshing on such a warm Sydney Saturday.

Our little guy loved seeing all the different dogs, cats and people. He scoffed Messina gelato , played on the kid's equipment in the park and danced to the live music provided by the Sevcon school of contemporary music .

There were loads of activities with kiss and cuddle booths for pets up for adoption, pet caricature portraits, paddling pools, live music and a fashion parade for pooches.

Tink's absolute favourite stall however, was the Rocky's K9 Rescue stall where Lauren from Animal Nature Care was giving puppy masssages. Tink settled in and looked like she never wanted to leave.

If you love your pet, want a lovely family day out or are looking for a dog or cat to call your very own then be sure to mark it in your calendar for next year, the Super Furry Festival is definitely for you.
