Do you have an original superman action figure, still in its original packaging sitting in pride of place on your bookcase?
Have you ever answered the door giving the Vulcan salute or
glomped visitors?
If you answered yes, to any of the above then there is no doubt where you should be this weekend - the
Supanova Pop Culture Expo at The Dome,
Sydney Olympic Park.
Supanova brings together, the best pop culture has to offer and puts it conveniently under one roof. Fans of science fiction, fantasy, animation, comic books, pulp TV/cinema, gaming and even collectables are catered for.
Celebrity guests are one of Supanova's highlights. This year a long list of celebrities will answer questions from fans, sign autographs and may even post for a photo.
Celebrities include Rachelle Lefevre, best known for her recent performance as Victoria in the 2008 film Twilight, and Karl Urban, Dr Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy in the 2009 remake of Star Trek. You’ll find the complete list and costs
here.
It’s not only about celebrities. Other highlights include the
Madman National Cosplay Championship, with contestants competing for a spot in the finals (taking place in Melbourne in November), and ultimately a trip for two, to the 2010 Tokyo Anime Fair in Japan.
The
EB Games MEGA Booth will give gaming fans an opportunity to trial some of the latest releases from Nintendo, THG and Sony.
While, wrestling fans have the opportunity to meet with wrestlers at the
Australian Wrestling Federation (AWF) stand, as well as witness live bouts three times a day.
Supanova 2009 will take place from 10am – 6pm on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June. A special preview night will commence the expo on Friday 26th June from 6pm – 10pm.
