The Sunshine Coast Turf Club's Corbould Park Racecourse Sunday Race Day provides something a little different to prolong the weekend fun for everyone. The racecourse is a short drive from Caloundra and about 40 minutes from Noosa. Entrance to the course on Sunday Race Day costs $10 per adult or $7 concession. No need to leave the kids at home. Children under 18 are free. Child minding is provided at the Klip Klop Club for kids aged 3 -12 years where payment is by a Gold coin donation. Free parking is provided adjacent to the racecourse entrance. Overall, it can be quite an inexpensive afternoon, depending on your betting prowess of course.


A group of us attended The Furlong Club located in the public area only 150 metres from the finishing line. It is a huge sheltered area furnished with tables and chairs. The magnificent thoroughbreds parade in the nearby saddling enclosure where you can see the superb stars of the show up close. We brought a picnic from home to share or alternatively, various beverage and menu packages are available for guests who book in advance. Fast food is also available if you prefer. The turf club is fully licensed so BYO is not allowed but water is freely available.

Strict dress codes exist in some areas such as the members' enclosure. However,in the public area, dress is more casual but if you feel like frocking up, feel free. One group near us was celebrating a 21st birthday. The ladies in their party took full advantage of the situation and wore formal dresses and elegant race day hats. If you feel like having a flutter on the nags, bets start from $1. Good luck!
