If market-hopping sounds like your idea of the perfect Sunday, forget the hopping and head down to the Brisbane Market Place, where you will find everything under one roof.
The
Sunday Discovery Markets are the largest flea markets in the city and one of the largest markets in all of Brisbane. Each Sunday, more than 5000 potential customers make the rounds of these markets in search of bargains. They are held in a sheltered, fully paved venue and take place regardless of the weather.
With almost 400 stalls, there's a huge range of trash and treasure to peruse. There are also coffee stands, cafes and a selection of international cuisine available for anyone who needs to take a break, and live entertainment on the stage.
Potential stall holders can book a stall
online. Site fees are $100 for a food court stall, and from $25 for a market stall.
The markets are held at the
Brisbane Marketplace on Sherwood Road in Rocklea. The Brisbane Marketplace is an undercover market facility that provides a venue for several Brisbane markets, like the
Twilight Fresh Markets. The venue is less than a kilometre from Rocklea train station and provides a large parking area.
Admission is $1.00 for adults and free for children less than 15 years. Visitors can also enjoy priority parking for $3.00, which includes entry for all passengers.
The Sunday Discovery Markets take place every Sunday from 6.00am until 12.00pm. Get there early and beat the crowds!
