Payneham Bowling Club on Payneham Road will be holding a fun come and try lawn bowls every Sunday over the summer months.

Every Sunday the club will host a come and try bowls for a Sunday session of $10 per person. The session times are from 11am– 2pm. It will take this long to have your game and a bit to eat. Cost will include a sausage sizzle BBQ lunch. Drinks are available from the clubhouse bar. It is a relaxed afternoon where the competitions of the week are over, and members are welcoming the community to come and have a go at bowls. A friendly relaxed social atmosphere will be provided with music over the PA to boogie to while you bowl.

Bring the family or gather a group of friends. Bowls is a fun activity and one that can get you up and moving, yet is not too strenuous on a warm summer's day. Kids seem to love bowls, and would suit children aged over 7. The balls may prove too heavy to bowl to the other end of the green for younger kids. The club will provide all sets of balls for your Sunday session. In between having your turn you can relax on the seating in front of the green and watch the people in your group have their shot and cheer them on.

Members of the bowling club will be on hand to give you some basic rules. If you have not bowled before it is easy to pick it up. The ball is weighted on one side so you need to know which way to bowl the ball to make it curve, so that is will get close to the target ball at the other end of the green.

If you would like to attend, it is essential to book by the Thursday evening before. You will be asked how many lanes your group needs. The club needs to know for catering purposes and also to roster club members to be instructors on the day. Please by considerate and make your booking in advance on 8337 1251.

The other essential requirement is a flat rubber soled shoe to be worn while playing. Shoes with ridges on the soles such as joggers, or heels are not allowed on the green. Thongs are OK but I would not want to drop a bowling ball on my foot.

Sunday bowls is a fun family and friends activity and available at many bowls clubs if you do not live in the Payneham area.
