Dine Smart and Help Out the Homeless
How about next time you dine out, you select your table from a restaurant participating in the 'Street Smart Australia' Program, which is set up to assist the homeless. This is an easy concept really, as we all like to go out for dinner.
Sounds pretty good to me, so now lets have a look at what this is all about?
Well, from now until 24 December certain restaurants have joined up with the Street Smart Organisation, donation scheme, collecting to help out the estimated 100,000 homeless Australians, who don't have a place to sleep at night.
This works by the restaurants, in most states of Australia asking diners to 'add two dollars' (or more), to the total of your bill. This works on the simple principle that, it is often the smallest things can make the biggest difference and you, can be part of it, in helping to make a big impact on the lives of people who are homeless.
Restaurants in cities that have selected to participate in this program include Brisbane, (37), Sydney, (47), Melbourne (61), and Adelaide (2). There are also a few other participating restaurants scattered around in regions outside the main cities, for example in Queensland, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. With an estimated total of 177 restaurants are on board visit this section of the website to seek out your next 'good deed' dining experience.
For the difference you can make for this small donation, there is something about this sort of thing that makes us as humans, naturally feel good about ourselves, for having being able to 'contribute to help' the less fortunate.
So, why not grab a group of friends or get together with some family members and head out for a fabulous meal. Together as a group your donations are multiplied already and you are able to make an even 'bigger contribution'.
And, just while you are having a great time dining out with your friends and/or family, why not take a great photograph while you are out. There is a "Shoot your Dine Smarts' competition that is running in conjunction with this program. Upload it and enter it in for a competition prize. (this competition runs until 9 December)
