Everyone knows that strawberries are nature's gift to the sweet tooth, so pulling into a 'pick your own' strawberry farm is pretty much like being given the keys to a lolly smorgasbord.
There are a number of strawberry farms within easy 'pickings' of Brisbane:
Gowinta Farm in Beerwah,
Strawberry Fields in Palmview and Stanthorpe and
Rolin Farms, just north of Caboolture, to name a few. All of these offer a 'pick your own' service as well as tours for large and small groups, where you can observe the inner workings of a commercial farm.
If you don't fancy getting your hands dirty, the farm shop/stall might be more your style. Pick up jams, jellies, ice cream – pretty much anything you can conceivably make out of strawberries is available for purchase, as well as the fresh strawberries themselves naturally.
While the lolly…I mean strawberry picking season runs only from May to late October, most of the farms have fresh strawberries for sale all year round. Why not taste the fruit of their labour (pun intended)?
