I really like Stones Corner. I never knew it in its former glory as an outlet shopping mecca; before the majority of retailers relocated to
DFO. Today, Stones Corner is a muddle of discount stores, empty shopfronts, and new and interesting tenants.
The people who shop at Stones Corner are just as diverse. Caffe di Moda, an outdoor cafe located in the centre of Stones Corner, is a great place to people watch. On my last visit to Stones Corner, I witnessed the world's oldest buskers; two lovely ladies resplendent in red singing Christmas carols outside Stones Corner Village.
It is very easy to while away a few hours in this precinct. Browse the boutiques like Little JC, Miss Savage, Vigari, and
Jorj. After some retail therapy, grab a coffee at That Monkey Espresso,
Grindhouse Espresso, or
Suite Commuter Coffee. If you are after something more substantial, there are several reputable restaurants to dine at: Sushi Tram Station,
Govindas or
Lady Marmalade.
Notable newcomers include The Green Door Cafe / Gallery and Books @ Stones.
The Green Door Cafe / Gallery is a new cafe featuring all day breakfasts, coffee, treats, and art in their upstairs gallery.
Books @ Stones and Allmedic Book Supplies is a friendly, independent book store selling children's, cooking, travel, popular, and medical books. They have children's storytime, book clubs, and are organising a writer's group for local aspiring writers.
Sundays at Stones Corner are splendid with the recent arrival of Jan Power's
Farmers Market; every second and fourth Sunday from 7 am until 1 pm.
With Brisbane City Council's
revitalisation project underway, the new busway station (opposite the popular
Stones Corner Hotel), and an Aldi arriving, expect Stones Corner to regain its reputation as one of Brisbane's most popular shopping destinations.
