If you've ever wielded an imaginary lightsaber (come on, admit it) then you'll be catching the nearest transporter to the
Powerhouse Museum for the
Star Wars -- Where Science Meets Imagination Exhibition.
The biggest attraction is definitely the collection of original props and costumes such as Luke's landspeeder, starfighter models, and Darth Vader's helmet, amongst others.
They also have a few interactive exhibits like building your own droid, or a levitating magnetic vehicle, and the exhibition is meant to relate Star Wars technology to what's possible in the real world. I guess that this educational aspect allows schools to use it as an excuse for an excursion.
I'm usually disappointed by these kind of exhibitions (seeing a prop up close seems to destroy the magic somehow), but I'll be going anyway. Surely a must for anyone born after 1901.
The exhibition is open until the 26th of April and costs $24 for an adult, and $15 for a child. You can
book online here to avoid the queues.
Why? They have Darth Vader's helmet!
