You never really know it's summer in Brisbane until you have been to a music festival. And if you only go to one festival this summer I highly recommend you make it the Laneway Festival on 4th February 2011.

This unique festival originates from St Jerome's Bar in Calendonian Lane in Melbourne, where it started as a laneway party. The party has since evolved into a nation-wide festival boasting acts from around the world. The Brisbane version is not so much a laneway party as an 'interconnected streets and lanes party', but as a name this isn't quite as catchy.

The line-up for the 2011 festival includes is a great mix of both local and international artists – some of the highlights include Gotye, Cut Copy, Yeasayer and Two Door Cinema Club. But the best thing about a festival, and in particular the Laneway Festival, is the opportunity to discover a whole heap of new music, and maybe even your new favourite band.

Celebrate summer with music.
