With a philosophy of bringing together fresh artists and unique locations to create "an urban music experience like no other" it's no wonder Laneway music revellers are generally the leaders of the pack when it comes to what we will be listening to in the months coming.
From humble beginnings at St. Jerome's Bar in Melbourne 2004, the vision was to bring together "live music in unique settings". Soon the bar's popularity outpaced it's capacity and the founders decided to host the first festival in the adjoining laneway. Since then the festival has transformed into the annual Australiawide event before us today. Even becoming a popular event in Auckland and Singapore. Now the festival attracts thousands of young revelers (or at least those young at heart) but it still embodies the same spirit.
This year's line-up does not disappoint, from the multi-talented Bat for Lashes and Divine Fits both making their Australian debuts to the more established Yeasayer, Kings of Convenience and Real Estate. Flume will definitely draw a big crowd alongside the popular New York born Nicolas Jaar with his electronic beats. With the current creme de la crop of up and coming artists Chet Faker, Pond and The Rubens are ones to watch.
For those lucky enough to be from Perth and Adelaide, festival goers will get to experience Of Monsters and Men most known for their 2012 cult hit Little Talks.
