Walking into the
Supre clearance store in Springvale, you will be overwhelmed with endless racks of brightly coloured clothing stretching all the way to the very back of the store. The entire shop is a permanent sale, save for a small corner reserved for a basic selection of current season stock.
The Springvale outlet is quite like a miniature version of the massive
Broadmeadows clearance centre, but generally without the famed $2.50 racks. However, it is not as densely packed with other shoppers, so you have room to browse.
Different promotions can be found at the store at different times, but you can be sure to find reduced clothing no matter what time of year it is. Often the store features a "nothing over $5" sale, with only the current season stock being exempt. Listen out for their radio advertisements for current offers.
It is hard to know where to start, with there being no clearly defined aisles within each of the five or so sections. The divisions usually do not have much significance, with one area being designated to full-price garments and the rest a miscellany of reduced items. A huge range of
sizes from 3XS (size 4) to XL (size 16) are available, with a disproportionately large amount of size Ms (size 12) in stock for most items.
Most of the clothing available is from their summer range, being colourful and floaty. Printed dresses and loose tops can be picked up for just $5. The slogan printed t-shirts which adorned teenage girls everywhere a few years ago are still sold at the clearance store. There is even some children's clothing in stock, however the designs are much less risqué than Supre's usual style, being limited to cute slogan t-shirts and skirts in floral or tartan prints.
With just a few staff members sparsely manning the store, don't expect exceptional customer service. Although they do their best to be helpful, you might have to wait for assistance.
Located curiously between a furniture shop and a flooring outlet, the clearance centre shares a small carpark with its neighbouring stores. Otherwise, take the
800 or
631 buses, which leave from the same stop directly opposite Supre.
