is a free, well-curated, immersive exhibition that takes visitors through the Australian experience of World War One.

This exhibition, instigated by the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, is showing at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre until 11 December before moving on to Bunbury and Kalgoorlie in January. It has been on the road since September 2015 and will continue to travel around Australia next year. Western Australia is well represented in this National exhibition.

Although free, it is best to pre-book tickets which you need to print and take with you. When you arrive, you attend a short briefing and will be provided with an iPod Touch and headphones which delivers the audio tour that guides you around the exhibition. When you enter the various rooms, the iPod is triggered to present the accompanying information. Besides adjusting the volume on the iPod at the very beginning, you don't have to interact with the device. The audio guide includes a historical commentary as well as excepts from letters and sound effects.

The visual elements of the exhibition include many large photographs and other images, replicas and artefacts with accompanying explanations.

The exhibition finishes with a striking, multidimensional memorial to those who died in the conflict.

When you exit, you come to a Western Australian community display which has been contributed to by several local organisations including the Army Museum of Western Australian .

If you don't have time to go through the exhibition you can get an idea of what is like by taking the virtual tour on the website at www.spiritofanzac.gov.au

This is also where you book tickets and it also has further information on the 'Experience' or you can call 1300 462 313. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to walk around but because it is self-paced you can take as long as you wish.

This well-presented exhibition is worthwhile visiting. It is not a glorification of war and even gives the perspective of some of the 'enemies' too. It is staffed by plenty of volunteers, mostly from the Defence Forces, should you need any assistance.
