The Southern Cross Yacht Club on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin has a yacht for a variety of cruises, including high-class Sunday lunch or Thursday dinner cruises. It's called the MV Southern Cross and it's one of Canberra's best-kept secrets.



My partner took me on a dinner cruise so we could eat the rich three-course meal while watching the gorgeous scenery and then the sunset and the night lights of central Canberra.







The staff were unobtrusive and pleasant, the ride was surprisingly serene (although I wouldn't recommend wearing a hat or a short skirt), and even as a native Canberran I was taken by surprise at how much of the lake is bordered by nothing but nature at its best.
