So you have visitors coming from overseas or interstate. Or you're organising a Hen's Day. Or a small business Christmas Party. A special birthday maybe... The idea of a winery tour comes into your mind. But who would be the unlucky designated drivers? So you think about getting on an organised bus tour. What if there was a more stylish, more personal option? Well there is!

Whether you're thinking Swan Valley or Margaret River why not hire a limousine for the day? Eight of us recently went to Dunsborough for a hen's weekend and did exactly this. We looked into bus tours which were between $80 and $120 per person for 6 hour tours. This would be on a bus with other people that we didn't know and with an itinerary decided upon by the bus company on the day.

For $82 per person we were able to hire a limo for 6 hours AND make our own itinerary. This didn't include lunch like some of the other bus tours did, but it gave us the freedom to choose our lunch spot based on our budget and what we wanted to eat.

There are a number of limousine companies around that are offering wine tours. The best we found was South West Limousines .

Our friendly, helpful driver picked us up just before 11am and dropped us back at the house we were staying at around 5pm. He contacted all the wineries on our itinerary beforehand with an approximate time of our visit and booked us a table for lunch. The day before he even called to the house to pick up some pink ribbon we had bought to decorate the front of the car. He was kind and patient and was able to meet all of our needs, including carrying boxes of wine from the cellar door to the car and taking group photos during the day.



It made the day that much more special for our bride to be and the rest of us totally enjoyed it as well. It was great to return to our limo at the end of each stop rather than joining strangers back on a bus each time. It was much more intimate and fun than being with a big group. The limo was fitted with wine glasses and coolers so after lunch we opened some of the wine we had bought and were able to enjoy it en route to the next stop.

So next time you're trying to think of something a little bit different for visitors, a birthday or a special celebration this might be right up your alley. I'd say a group of around 8 is a perfect number to have depending on the limousine you hire. While you sit back, relax and sip on beautiful wines your driver will take care of the rest!
