Rodgers and Hammerstein's production of South Pacific is coming to Adelaide and set to open on New Year's Eve 2013.

What a great way to spend New Year's Eve, watch the show and then attend the 'after party'. The party includes live entertainment, cocktail food and drinks, and you can bring in the new year overlooking Elder Park watching the spectacular fireworks.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's original production of South Pacific won ten Tony awards, the only musical production to win in four categories. The 2008 Broadway revival ran for nearly 1,000 performances and won seven Tonys including Best Musical Revival.

Set on a South Pacific island where the US army have stationed a base during the second World War, it follows two love stories. Nellie Forbush, who falls in love with a mature French plantation owner Emile de Becque, and Lieutenant Joseph Cable who falls in love with young island native Liat. Both couples, raised with different values, face racial prejudice issues.

Starring Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Lisa McCune, the off-stage couple already share chemistry. South Pacific will open at the Festival Theatre for a strictly limited season from 29 December 2013. Hear favourites like Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair, Bali Ha'i and There is Nothin' Like a Dame, all backed by a brilliant orchestra.

Daniel Koek who played the role of Lieutenant Joseph Cable in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne says "There's a bit more sparkle in this production". Koek is currently performing the role of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables in London's West End.

Bookings through Bass . Why not buy tickets as a Christmas present for somebody special. This wonderful new production had audiences raving interstate.

"South Pacific is the perfect mix of gravity and lightness. It doesn't miss a beat. It's exquisite. This production explodes with life, colour, and detail at a level that is simply unparalleled". Cassie Tongue, Reviewer, Aussie Theatre
