Another beach I would like to share with you is South beach in Mt Martha.

This is a favourite with locals especially on a Friday evening when the nippers are training at the Life Saving Club and the parents meet up with other family's and have a few drinks whilst watching the kids.

It has become quite a tradition for our family to order fish and chips across the road at Beach Box fish and chips (they're always great) and head over to the beach and stay to watch the amazing sunsets.

South Beach is conveniently located directly opposite the South Beach Cafe on the Esplanade, and is within a few metres to the Mt Martha village shops on Lochiel Avenue.

The beach is popular during school holidays but during the week it's very quiet, even on a beautiful 33 degree day (as pictured) you will not have to worry about finding a spot to set up the umbrella.

The water at South Beach is a great swimming beach for adults and older children. I find it gets a bit deep too quickly for toddlers especially if the water is a bit choppy, my kids seem to love building sandcastles here, as there are lots of little rocks and shells to decorate them with.

South beach is a popular spot for wedding photos.

Beach boxes are highly sought after here, currently one is for sale for $175,000, but the record is much higher.

Next time you're visiting the Mornington Peninsula come and enjoy fish and chips at South Beach.
