The Soldiers' Memorial Gardens are a beautiful place to take a walk through. Enjoy the lush green grass, and learn a bit about some of Australia's soldiers. The gardens are also located right next door to the Unley Shopping Centre , so you can go grab some food, and enjoy a picnic right on the grass.



There is plenty of open area at the Soldiers' Memorial Gardens, so you can bring the kids along here and let them run around. You could use the space for friendly ball games like footy or soccer, but just make sure you're not kicking the ball on to any of the displays. If your kids are just finding their feet when it comes to bike riding, they can also use the paths through the gardens to practice.

Throughout the gardens you'll also find memorials dedicated to Australian soldiers. These can be educational for both adults and kids. There are also cannons in the park, which kids will love to look at. The cannons are just for display, and can't be played with or climbed on by children, but they'll still love to see them. You can take a walk through the garden to explore all the memorials before sitting down to a picnic. If you'd prefer to eat undercover, you can also sit under the large rotunda.



Unfortunately there are no picnic tables at the park, so if you are interested in a picnic you'll have to set up on the grass. There are benches in the park to sit on, but these aren't great for enjoying picnics. If you head over to the Unley Shopping Centre you can also grab some yummy food to enjoy. Forget heading to Woolworths or Coles, try Dulwich Bakery, Feast Fine Foods, or The Unley Gourmet. If you'd prefer to eat undercover, you can also sit under the large rotunda.



There isn't lots to do at the Soldiers' Memorial Gardens, but it is still a beautiful place to go. If your preference is for a relaxing afternoon over a fun day for the kids, then try this pretty picnic spot.
