Being short of time and lacking in funds are no longer excuses to not join a gym. Snap Fitness is a 24 hour access gym does not lock clients into contracts and has some membership prices that cost around $1 per day. These gyms offer the basic equipment and are certainly have no frills in that they lack swimming pools and exercise classes.

This aside, they do have centres throughout the world, which a member can attend no matter what club they have joined at. Snap Fitness has locations in Canada, India, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Snap Fitness does have the added incentive of having television screens installed in each cardio machine. I often find that when doing a fast walk or pedalling at a steady pace it is a useful distraction to be able to watch either 'The Simpsons' or the news.

There is also an iPod dock installed so if you feel like blocking out all external sounds and having a rhythm to follow there is easy access to your own tunes. What's more, the screens enable a client to view iPod music videos or other programs loaded onto personal iPods. Also, Nike can record a workout straight to your iPod so you can monitor your own fitness progress.

So, while gyms such as Virgin Active have state of the art equipment, large change rooms, temperature controlled swimming pools and a yoga studio—Snap Fitness is exercise on a budget and you can go whenever you want.

Genesis Fitness has similar price deals for memberships and while some of its clubs offer classes, not all have built in TV screens for cardio equipment. Also, some Genesis Fitness clubs are closed on the weekends or have limited opening hours on those days. Moreover, those centres can also be closed on public holidays whereas with Snap Fitness, public holiday or not they are open.
