Travelling in the Philippines is like that book I read when I was a young child, busy people in busy town, there's always something happening. I love how Tourism Philippines says 'it's more fun in the Philippines'.


While I love the whole festivity of travelling in the Philippines, it can get pretty hectic. Cebu, one of the largest cities in The Philippines, while not as busy and bustling as the capital city of Manila, is a great city to travel in. Why? Because at SM Cebu City (Shoe Mart) known as a 'Supermall ' there is a Travellers Lounge.

Layovers, and especially the time between a hotel checkout and the time of your departure to another destination can be extrra stressful for tourists. Most of the time, you'll need to check out from a hotel at around noon. But then this leaves you with heaps of time since most of the time your flight or boat might not leave for another few hours after check out time. If you're like me, hanging around the shops or at terminal cafes and bars just won't cut it. I can't walk around and check out the local area and shops as I'd hate having to drag my heavy luggage with me. Talk about uncomfortable and inconvenient.

To make your travels as smooth and as easy possible one must visit SM's Travellers lounge. You can store your luggage here while you go out and explore, you don't need to worry about your heavy suitcases or bags. You'll notice that in the Philippines that there is a lot of security at the malls, you need to open your bags at every entrance. It's great to know that you can skip that (well not your handbags with your valuables) whole process with your major luggage and travel lighter.



Also at the travellers lounge, you can book ferry tickets, taxis, get tour information and much more all for free. The ladies there are really helpful and like most Filipinos speak good English. This place makes it much easier to book things on the fly without have to go all over Cebu looking for a ticket office or travelling to the pier to organise things.


The Travellers Lounge in Cebu is definitely my best tip for travelling in Cebu, a one stop shop for every tourist – recharge your batteries (literally – they have areas to recharge your phones and other gadgets), take a shower before you need to leave for the airport, check your email with the wifi offered or leave your bags here if you're on a day trip or on your way to your next destination and have a few hours to kill.
