Make the most of Brisbane's stellar winter days and head to Sirromet Winery's Cellar Door for a glass of locally produced wine and a relaxed weekend meal in the sun. Located in Mount Cotton, the Cellar Door offers a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, set in stunning vineyard surrounds.
An easy 40 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD, Sirromet's Cellar Door is suitable for a family lunch with the kids; casual brunch with friends; or a large gathering such as a birthday party or baby shower.
If you do have kids, then bring the footy or a blanket and some toys because the Cellar Door is located right next to a huge grassed area, just perfect for a kick or a game of tag. We even saw a few wallabies grazing in the distance, much to the little ones' delight.
Enjoying a run around with the kids during a weekend lunch at Sirromet winery.
While the kids are entertained, the adults can enjoy a long lunch, share a cheese platter, sample the wine menu or simply enjoy some coffee and cake. Their menu offers a bit of something for everyone with quality produce, reasonable prices and generous portion sizes.
If you don't have kids (or even if you do) then bring a dedicated driver and take advantage of the wine tasting available. Don't be surprised if you head home with a case or two in the boot as there were some excellent discounts on offer from the Cellar Door.
The live music kicks in from 12:30pm on Saturdays and 1:00pm on Sunday afternoons, and their chilled sounds tempted us to linger a little longer. We ordered some coffees and watched the kids dance their little hearts out. No one minded, and in fact there was a group of kids and adults kicking their heels up by the time we left.
Tip: If you're planning a large gathering or function, they only accept bookings on the $30/head set menu option. If you choose not to go with this option, then you are advised to arrive early to secure your tables. We will be hosting a birthday party in late August and I plan to arrive at 11am (for a 1:30pm start) with a good book to accompany my glass of house Merlot while I wait.
